Hi again,
I found my female that had flown away, she is down the road at the wetlands, here she is with a wild duck in the pic, she still knows her name, she listens when I call her. She seems very happy down there. I go and see her and give her some food.

Hello again,
Here's an update-picture of our 2 ducklings born on May 8th 2008. We have one male and one female which brings the family to 2 boys and 3 girls. They are just lovely!
Greetings!

we got a female 3 years ago for a male that was here when we built-she now has built a nest under the house-as expectant grand ducks we are looking for any suggestions on protection-raising babies, etc
Webmaster:
The best protection are some nets against predator birds and the mother duck of course. There is not much more you can do...

This is my only duck left, He has been left on his own my female flew away. He was very picky about vege scraps so I have been boiling them with some pasta and peas and he loves it. I called him Whity he used to get picked on by his brothers and father, he was the odd one out(white), I got rid of them and kept him.
Webmaster:
Thanks for the picture. Ours love pasta as well.

Well, this past Fri. and Sat. Mama Loca hatched 9 out of 11 eggs. Sat. evening she marched them across the street to the nieghborhood pond. Today, Mon. there are only 5 babies swimming with Mama. It's a little sad that they all did not survive. There are 4 more Mama's on nests in the park. Can you believe that one of them made her nest under the merry-go-round? I think that all these Mama's are from the same litter.--(What do you call a group of baby ducks from the the same Mama?)--Since they are picking spots out in the open to nest.

Good news. We are keeping them under a protecting net (used also for protecting fruit plants or vegetables against birds). After a few weeks they are safe...
